New York Could Use DNA Tool For Cold Cases

(Albany, NY) -- New York is looking at allowing a DNA tool be used to crack cold cases.

Experts can analyze DNA found at a crime scene to compare it to possible family members who are already in the system to generate leads. "The New York Post" says Familial DNA searches could help crack many cold cases like they have in other states.

State forensic officials will decide in the coming months if these searches can take place in New York.
