State Senator Sue Serino and Assemblymember Didi Barrett are teaming up with Scenic Hudson on legislation that would help the state gain more control of navigation on the Hudson River.
The legislation is being offered to counter a proposal by the U.S. Coast Guard to add ten more anchorage sites in the river including off the Dutchess, Ulster and Orange shorelines.
Under the Coast Guard plan barges could anchor for weeks in the same location. The Coast Guard Says the additional anchorage are needed for safer commercial traffic.
