(Yorktown, NY) -- Police are investigating a crash that left a Dutchess County man dead.
"The Journal News" reports 71-year-old William Smith was heading north on the Taconic State Parkway yesterday evening in Yorktown, when his vehicle hit the center median, careened right across several lanes and struck the guardrail along the shoulder of the roadway. Smith, of East Fishkill, was pronounced dead at the scene.
There was a passenger in his car but there is no word on their condition. State Police believe Smith may have had a medical emergency while behind the wheel.
