Free College Tuition In New York

(New York, NY) -- New York State's free college tuition program is gearing up.

Starting June 7th, students whose families earn 125-thousand-dollars a year or less can apply for an Excelsior Scholarship. Governor Cuomo's pet program covers tuition at SUNY colleges for full-time, in-state students. It does not cover room and board or other expenses.

Under the rules, students have to agree to work in New York following graduation, typically for four years, if they get a four-year scholarship.
