(Mahopac, NY) -- A woman has been hospitalized in Putnam County after being bitten on the ankle and feet by a fox.
It happened over the weekend when the fox came out of the woods and attacked the woman in her yard and then pursued her inside her home in Mahopac. The woman was able to get her kids outside the house and closed the door on the fox.
Authorities originally responded to reports of a coyote inside the home, only to find out it was in fact a gray fox. The animal is being tested for rabies.
