Power Outages Are Possible During Next Storm

Another nor’easter could make for a messy commute tomorrow and lead to more power outages in the Mid-Hudson.

Central Hudson is assembling a field force of 500 in readiness for the storm that is predicted to hit tomorrow. Officials with the local utility say residents should be prepared for possible power outages as high winds are predicted along with sleet, snow and freezing rain. Included in the field force are 200 electric line contractors and mutual aid workers from New York and the Midwest, 140 tree workers and Central Hudson crews along with support personnel.

Hudsonvalleyweather.com says wind gusts during the storm could be more than 30mph. Central Hudson says many trees may have been compromised by previous storms and may give way during this storm, bringing down powerlines with them.
