The owners of the Asahi Shuzo Brewery were at the Culinary Institute yesterday to detail their plan to build their new sake brewery in the United States in Hyde Park. Currently all sake breweries from Japan have built their breweries on the West Coast of the U.S., this will be the first one on the East Coast.
Construction is expected to begin soon at the site of the former Stop & Shop store at Route 9 and St. Andrews Road. The building will be transformed into a production area where premium sake will be brewed, along with a visitor’s center complete with a retail store. The facility is expected to be completed nxt year.
The CIA is developing educational programs on sake and Japanese cuisine in collaboration with the brewery.
