LISTEN: Mets Jump Out to Early Lead & Never Look Back in 6-1 Romp vs Giants

The day started with an apology and ended with a victory. The Mets crushed the Giants 6-1 tonight after a very fast start. They scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning off Giants starter Jeff Samardzija. Neil Walker got things rolling with a two-run triple and Jose Reyes and Rene Rivera followed with RBI's.

In the bottom of the second TJ Rivera drove in Michael Conforto as the pair hit back-to-back doubles putting the Mets on top 5-0. Conforto would later homer in the seventh to cap the Mets scoring for the night.

Zack Wheeler was sharp in picking up his second win of the season. He allowed just one run on two hits over six innings. He struck out four on ninety-five pitches while walking four.

Earlier in the day Matt Harvey returned from his suspension and apologized for his actions which led to him being sent home for three days.
