Deadly Pursuit Begins In Dutchess County


UPDATE  12:12pm:

(East Fishkill, NY)  --  A 50 year old driver is dead after he led police on a chase that began in Dutchess County and ended with a fatal crash in Orange County.

State Police say at about 9:40 last night troopers initiated a vehicle and traffic stop on a 2001 Toyota Tacoma on the Taconic State Parkway traveling North in the Town of East Fishkill. The Tacoma was observed to have a tow dolly. During the stop troopers learned the operator of the vehicle, Thomas McGrath, of Cresco, PA was wanted on several warrants. 

State Police say McGrath then fled the scene and a pursuit was initiated.The pursuit continued on to Interstate 84 westbound across the Newburgh Beacon Bridge and into the town of Montgomery. At about 10:20pm, the suspect’s vehicle clipped another vehicle near the Stewart Airport Exit 5-A, overturned and burst into flames. Troopers were unable to remove McGrath from his vehicle and he died at the scene.
