(Poughkeepsie, NY) -- Classes began today at Marist College in Poughkeepsie.
Students arrived on campus over the weekend to move in to the residence halls. Nearly 1,500 new students are on campus including 1330 freshmen and 150 transfer students.
Marist College officials say “this group of freshman is the most racially and ethnically diverse in the College’s history, with students from underrepresented groups comprising 23 percent of Marist’s incoming class.” Thirty-six of the new students are spending their first year at Marist’s campus in Italy, and twenty-nine are spending their first year taking classes in Ireland.
