(Cornwall, NY) -- A man is recovering from a bear attack in Orange County.
Officials say the Cornwall resident was walking to his detached garage Sunday evening when he encountered a black bear. The animal hit the 47-year-old man and then ran off. He was taken to the hospital and treated for wounds to the chest. The injuries are described as non-life threatening. Police are reminding people not to approach bears or other wild animals.
