(New York, NY) -- An investigation is underway into possible bridge safety issues on the replacement for the Tappan Zee Bridge.
NBC 4 New York reports dozens of steel bolts on the Mario Cuomo Bridge over the Hudson River broke apart during construction, causing concern for some who feel the bridge may not be safe. The investigation was reportedly prompted by a whistle blower who turned over recordings indicating officials knew of the bolt defects.
During his campaign for Governor, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro claimed that the opening of the bridge was politically timed to favor incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo.
