(New York, NY) -- The state Assembly is approving a law that would make New York a "sanctuary state."
Under the New York State Liberty Act, an undocumented person could not be detained unless there was a warrant from a judge. An undocumented person could not be questioned by state or local law enforcement just because that person appears to be an immigrant.
