NYPD Detective Gets Street Named For Him

(Rockville Centre, NY) -- A Long Island street is being named for beloved NYPD Detective Steven McDonald.

The village of Rockville Centre is honoring the late detective and former resident with "Detective Steven McDonald Way" at the corner of Maple and Madison Avenues where the local police station sits.

McDonald was a known and beloved figure in the NYPD after being left paralyzed from the neck down some 30-years ago in a Central Park shooting. He died in a Long Island hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack last month.

McDonald many times brought his message of non-violence to schools in Dutchess and Ulster counties.
