(Albany, NY) -- New York State officials say they're ready to shut down the Indian Point nuclear facility over the next four-years.
Yesterday at a budget hearing in Albany the state public service commission chairwoman said they have been planning for the plant's eventual closure. The first reactor is set to shut down in 2020, with the entire Westchester plant closing in 2021.
The commission says they are looking at alternative energy sources to replace the power that the plant generates now.
