Special Olympic athletes from all around the state are arriving in Poughkeepsie today for the 2017 NY State Winter Games.
The athletes will compete in skiing, skating, snowshoeing and other sports. Competitions in Dutchess County will be held at the McCann Ice Arena and Bowdin Park. Games will also be held at Holiday Mountain in Sullivan County and at the Stewart Air National Guard Base near Newburgh.
The opening ceremony will be held at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center tonight.
