(Albany, NY) -- The New York Senate is cracking down on "zombie" homes.
It's passed a bipartisan bill that would cut the tax redemption period for abandoned buildings from two years to one year. In Poughkeepsie there are dozens of "zombie" houses that fall into disrepair and foreclosure.
Many of the homes have reverted to bank ownership or are in the process of ownership change. That can complicate matters concerning the upkeep of the house.
