(Albany, NY) -- The NY State Assembly and Senate will hold a joint hearing today on the closure of Indian Point.
The nuclear power plant along the Hudson River is capable of producing 25 percent of the electricity for New York City and Westchester County. Cuomo announced in January he reached a deal to close the plant in 2021.
Indian Point which sits about 30 miles from the Big Apple has had radioactive leaks, power outages, fires and other issues over the years. A representative from the company that owns Indian Point will reportedly testify at the hearing.
