(Syracuse, NY) -- White-outs and slick and icy roads are creating hazardous driving conditions today along the New York State Thruway.
Many did not escape a string of crashes that tied up traffic earlier. Crashes closed Interstate 81 at Interstate 690 in Syracuse causing major delays. Syracuse police and officers from other departments responded to more than 30 crashes this morning because of the weather.
One single crash scene on Interstate 90 west near the Warners Travel Plaza involved ten vehicles. Police urge drivers to slow down and allow extra travel time.
