Hudson River Barge Issue Still Alive

Lawmakers are still trying to stop the Coast Guard from putting more barges in the Hudson River.

Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney said yesterday folks are concerned about the risk of an oil spill and hurting the recreational use of the river. The Coast Guard wants to place more anchorage sites in the river from Yonkers to Kingston to increase transportation of crude oil.

Maloney has sponsored proposed federal legislation that would stop the barge plan.
