Lady Liberty Goes Dark

(New York, NY) -- The National Parks Service says it knows why the lights at the Statue of Liberty went dark last night.

It says power to a lighting system controller was turned off to change bad lighting equipment, but the controller wasn't reset properly, causing the brief outage. During the outage, only Lady Liberty's crown and torch were shining in New York Harbor.

Officials say everything is back to normal now.
