Major Medical Marijuana Changes In New York

(Albany, NY) -- Physician assistants are now able to certify New York patients to participate in the medical marijuana program.

The state Department of Health next week is also set to add disorders like chronic pain to the illnesses eligible to be treated by the program.  These are both changes to try to improve patient access to medical marijuana in New York.

Physician assistants are only allowed to certify patients if their supervising physician is already registered to prescribe marijuana.
