One possible proposal for allowing ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft is to let local lawmakers have a say. Dutchess-Ulster Assemblyman Kevin Cahill says upstate cities and counties will be allowed to opt out of ride-sharing under this proposal.
Right now Uber and the other ride-sharing apps are only available in New York in New York City and expansion across the rest of the state has been discussed during the budget process.
