(Albany, NY) -- Anti-smoking activists are outraged that the recently passed New York state budget doesn't include a ban on the indoor use of electronic cigarettes.
Governor Andrew Cuomo had predicted last month that lawmakers would include e-cigs in the state ban on smoking in public indoor spaces. During budget negotiation and deliberation, the move to ban indoor e-cig use was left on the cutting room floor, as was a 10-cents-per-milliliter tax on vapor products.
This after both Cuomo and Albany lawmakers publicly supported the indoor ban over the past several weeks.
