(Albany, NY) -- The cost of a Mega Millions lottery ticket is doubling.
According to a measure taken up yesterday by the New York lottery regulator, the cost of a Mega Millions ticket will rise from one-dollar to two-dollars later this year. You will also have a lower chance of winning the jackpot. It's all aimed at hiking up the jackpot for the game, which is offered in more than 40 states.
New York had to go along with the move in order to keep offering the Mega Millions game. The changes will be in effect by the October 31 drawing.
