An Ulster County jury is now deliberating the murder case of 27 year old Sarra Gilbert.
Sarra is accused of killing her mother in a Warren Street apartment in Ellenville back in July of last year. 52 year old Mari Gilbert died from multiple stab wounds. Her attorney says Gilbert is not responsible because she suffers from mental illness.
Sarra is the sister of Shannan Gilbert, who was found dead on Gilgo Beach on Long Island in 2011. The search for Shannan led police to more bodies buried in that area, and the belief that a serial killer is responsible for some of the deaths.
