Operation Safe Stop Day

Today is Operation Safe Stop Day and officials with the New York School Bus Contractors Association made a stop in Marlboro to heighten awareness.

The Association represents over one hundred school bus transportation companies statewide, and they are calling for tougher penalties for drivers who illegally pass stopped school buses.  NYSBCA’s President Mike Martucci says, “The New York Contractors Association strongly supports the passage of two complementary bills, sponsored by State Senator John Bonacic and State Senator Rich Funke, to increase penalties on drivers who continue to ignore the law.”

At Marlboro Elementary School, NYBCA representatives were joined by Marlboro Schools Director of Business & Transportation Patrick Witherow, Town of Marlborough Police Chief Gerald Cocozza,  Ulster County Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum, Ulster County Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Kavanagh and other officials.
