After 8 years on the Town of Poughkeepsie police force, K-9 Reagan has passed away.
The 11 year old German Shepard passed away on Sunday. Over her years of service Reagan, with Officer Vanja Mikelic, earned many awards. Four years ago she earned the most advanced patrol dog title in the country, the Eastern Police Canine Association’s Police Dog Level 2 certification.
K-9 Reagan was tough on criminals, recovering over 20 pounds of illegal narcotics, and 99 pieces of evidence, including four guns. K-9 Reagan over her career tracked and located 32 criminal suspects. She retired from active duty in 2015.
