Growth Continues At Vassar Brothers Medical Center

Even though the opening of Vassar Brothers Medical Center’s new 500 million dollar Patient Pavilion is nearly two years away, the hospital continues to add services and programs at the existing facility in Poughkeepsie.

At the medical center’s annual community breakfast at the Grandview today, Vassar Brother’s President Ann McMackin said that more patients and physicians are choosing to have their surgeries done at Vassar. Last year there were more than 18,000 surgeries performed at Vassar, a more than 25 percent increase in five years.  The growth rate is so pronounced, that hospital officials have decided to add another floor to the under-construction patient pavilion.

Vassar Brothers Medical Center is part of the Health-Quest System Inc. Beginning in July, Health-Quest will add Sharon Hospital in Connecticut to its family. At that time, the system will employ more than 6,000 people in the region. Visit healthquest.org for more information.
