I half agree with Vice President Mike Pence as he defends President Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey. The Vice President argued that Trump showed strong and decisive leadership and called Comey's firing the right decision at the right time.
I think it is the right decision at the wrong time. I think President Trump should have fired Comey on Inauguration Day January 20th. During the Hillary Clinton email probe Comey showed himself to be mistake-prone. His run around of the U.S Justice Department was also very troubling. If the President had fired Comey in January I think the move would have been greeted as part of a “clean sweep” effort.
The President can quickly put this all behind him if he selects a Comey replacement who has qualities of high honor and integrity.
