(Tarrytown, NY) -- The Tappan Zee Bridge's new main span is nearing completion.
Construction crews are finishing the main span's towers, and following some additional work that's needed, the westbound span should open sometime this summer. Once that span is opened all traffic will switch from the old bridge to the new one and work can begin on removing the old bridge.
The entire project is expected to be completed sometime in 2018 with Governor Cuomo praising the speed of the work so far.
