School Budget Decision Day

Today is school board election day and school budget decision day across New York State.  

Voting hours vary from district to district, in most local districts voting continues until 9pm.  Poughkeepsie district voters will decide on a 96.7 million dollar proposed budget with a tax levy increase of 1.31 percent. Wappingers district voters will decide on a 225 million dollar proposed budget with a tax levy increase of 1.8 percent.  In Wappingers there is also a school bus purchase proposition on the ballot.

For the sixth consecutive year, the Board of Education in the Arlington School District is putting forward a budget that is below the state tax levy cap. The proposed 2017/2018 Arlington Budget is $205 million dollars.  The tax levy increase is 1.52%.
