(New York, NY) -- As the summer travel season begins Health Department officials are reminding pregnant women not to travel to areas of the world dealing with the Zika Virus.
That includes the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Cuba. The Mosquito born disease can cause life-long birth defects.
32 babies in New York City have tested positive for Zika. Of those infected babies, half have neurological disorders as a result of the virus and all of those cases are related to travel. Officials say more than one-thousand New Yorkers have tested positive for Zika, with around four-hundred of them pregnant women.
