Tornado Touches Down In Dutchess County

(Wappinger, NY) -- It  was a tornado that hit Dutchess County Wednesday night. 

The National Weather Service reports that the tornado touched down in Wappinger and stayed on the ground for more than a mile. It was a category EF-1 with winds reaching 100-miles-per-hour. There were no injuries reported.

The worst of the storm hit Dutchess County around 7:15 Wednesday night, knocking down trees and causing power outages in parts of Dutchess and Ulster counties.
