Arrest Made In NYS Thruway Hit And Run

(Sloatsburg, NY) -- A truck driver is under arrest in a deadly hit and run on the New York State Thruway.

State Police say Scott Spooner of Vineland, New Jersey is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. The 59-year-old is accused of running down a pedestrian, Paul Peacock of New York City, on I-87 near the Ramapo rest area yesterday. It's unclear why Peacock was in the road.

Spooner was tracked down by police after they found his damaged truck in Mahwah, New Jersey.  He has been arraigned and is being held at Rockland County jail on 25-thousand dollars bail.
