(New York, NY) -- The letter X may soon be among the choices for sexual ID under a new bill introduced in the State Assembly.
The gender neutral option would be available on your New York State driver's license and other state forms for people who don't identify as male or female. It's the brainchild of Brooklyn Assemblyman Felix Ortiz who believes institutions need to reflect changes underway in society. He cites a Williams Institute study that finds more than a million people in the U.S. identify as transgender.
