Public Hearing On Tick Diseases

With a summer full of tick encounters in the Mid-Hudson, a public hearing on Lyme and other tick-borne diseases is tentatively scheduled for next month.

Local State Senator Sue Serino is working with Senator Kemp Hannon to schedule the hearing at the end of August in Albany.  Senator Serino says the goal is to get answers from experts on how to stop the spread of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.

She says, “With cases of Powassan being identified in Saratoga County, Lyme Disease being diagnosed across the state, and new tick-borne infections being identified, it is critical that we put the spotlight squarely on Lyme and TBD’s to ensure that combatting their spread remains a priority here at the state level.”
