(New York, NY) -- New York Senator Chuck Schumer is asking the House of Representatives not to follow through with proposed cuts to the national weather forecasting system.
He says slashing the more than 350-million-dollars in funding would make it harder for meteorologists to predict storms. Schumer says if the money is cut, plans to repair and upgrade satellites used to determine weather patterns won't be adequately funded. He says the satellites give meteorologists the ability to warn residents when severe weather is approaching.
