"Hot Water Challenge" Claims Another Victim

(Bronx, NY) -- Police say a Bronx girl is severely burned after a friend poured boiling hot water on her during a sleepover.

The eleven-year-old girl Jamoneisha Merritt suffered burns to her face, chest, back and shoulders when a friend dumped the water on her while she was at the sleepover on Findlay Avenue. The 12-year-old friend, who was not identified due to her age, was arrested and charged with felony assault as a juvenile.

This was the latest incident involving the so-called "hot water challenge" that has been taking place across the country. Last month, a Florida girl died of internal burns after she drank boiling water in a straw in a similar challenge.
