New Paltz Man Sentenced For Sex Trafficking

(New Paltz, NY) -- A man from Ulster County is facing a lengthy stint in prison after being sentenced for the sex trafficking of minors.

A judge sentenced 52-year-old Mark Castagnetta from New Paltz to more than 18 years behind bars in federal prison. Authorities say he used social media to get in contact with two minors and got them to travel to his home. He then had the minors take part in abusive sexual contact, which included the use of a pocket knife and a lighter.

Investigators say he also gave them illegal drugs and had them engage in sexual acts with other people. Castagnetta pleaded guilty to the crimes.
