Authorities say a fugitive from Illinois is accused of killing a woman in Newburgh this weekend.
Police responded to a Carson Avenue home yesterday and found 47-year-old Tanya Smith dead. An investigation lead to murder charges against 59-year-old Kevin Cook, who is wanted on an open warrant from the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Detectives say they determined that Cook had been living with a relative in Newburgh. It's not clear what connection if any existed between Cook and the victim.
