(Albany, NY) -- New York officials are hoping a new law increases the number of organ donors.
Governor Andrew Cuomo signed it into law yesterday. It requires people who apply for a driver’s license to select either yes or no when asked if they want to be an organ donor. Without the law, New Yorkers can skip the question and still get their license. Similar legislation had been passed in 2012 but it was set to expire in 2020. This new law now has no expiration date.
