Potentially Fatal Powassan Virus In Dutchess County

With a case of the Powassan virus confirmed in Dutchess County, State Senator Sue Serino is urging residents to remain vigilant protecting against ticks.  She is the Chair of the State Senate Lyme Task Force and she warns that the warm weather means ticks are still active.  Powassan is a potentially fatal disease with no cure available.

Senator Serino recently co-hosted a State Senate public hearing on combatting the spread of tick-borne diseases, and a report on the hearing is expected to be released within the week.
