(New York, NY) -- Two former state corrections officers are found guilty of beating an inmate in Dutchess County and then trying to cover it up.
Joon H. Kim, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, says Kathy Scott and George Santiago Jr. were convicted yesterday of conspiring to violate inmate Kevin Moore's civil rights, as well as falsifying records. Kim says the two repeatedly punched and kicked Moore in the head and body, as he lay on the floor, at the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill in November of 2013. They both could get decades in prison at their sentencing in April.
