Guns, Drugs And Cash Seized In Poughkeepsie

Operation “PK Pick Up” in the City of Poughkeepsie results in the recovery of 5 hand guns, heroin, cocaine and marijuana and the arrest of 18 suspects.  Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison says the muliti-agency law enforcement operation makes the city a safer place and the region a safer place.  He says the police agency collaboration results in a larger and lasting impact than when a police agency works alone.

Most of the takedown happened Tuesday in the early morning hours and was centered mostly on Smith Street and the north part of the city.  Officials say the drug dealers in that area call the neighborhood “Death Row.”  In addition to the guns and drugs, $25,000 in cash and two vehicles were seized.

The operation was headed up by the FBI’s Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force and participating agencies include:  NYSP CNET HVR, SIU, NYSP Troop K Uniform Force and BCI, City of Poughkeepsie PD, Dutchess County Drug Task Force, Red Hook Police, The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.
