(New York, NY) -- U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer is calling on the federal government to use screening devices that can detect bombs like the one used recently in a New York City subway station. The Democrat from New York says the Transportation Security Administration has been testing the devices in Los Angeles. Senator Schumer says the technology could save lives if they were put in transportation hubs in the New York City metro-area.
The TSA has been testing the devices in a partnership with the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Officials for the TSA say the agency wants to eventually use the devices in major cities across the U.S.
