Poughkeepsie's "Kayak Killer" Goes Free Tomorrow

(Bedford Hills, NY) -- The so-called "kayak killer" will be released from Bedford Hills Correctional Facility tomorrow.

Angelika Graswald was sentenced last month to between 16-months and four-years in prison after she pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide, admitting she pulled the plug on Vincent Viafore's kayak on the Hudson River in 2015. The 37-year-old Poughkeepsie woman has been in jail for more than two years, which counts toward her sentence. Graswald will be on parole for 16 months and could later be deported to her native Latvia.
