Record Cold In Poughkeepsie


It was so cold yesterday that the mercury hit minus ten degrees shattering the record low for the day.  

It was the coldest New Year’s day in Poughkeepsie since 1968 which was when the previous record cold of minus 9 was set.  The National Weather Service says the record low was hit at 7:46 AM.  The normal low temperature for January first is 17 degrees which is higher than yesterday’s maximum temperature of 16 degrees.
