Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro says he will not run for the Republican nomination for Governor of New York. After for several months flirting with the possibility of launching a campaign, Molinaro yesterday tweeted that now is not the right time to run.
“After much discussion, contemplation, and prayer, I have made the decision that at this time I will not be a Republican candidate for Governor.
While I believe that State government can be a servant of the people when run well and with integrity, it's just not the right time for me to seek the governorship.
I will focus on the important work we are accomplishing in Dutchess County, continue traveling the state advocating for those with disabilities, and my wife Corinne and I will continue raising our young family.”
Molinaro is the second top Republican to decide against a run, Westchester Businessman Harry Wilson made the same decision earlier this week.
