Wappingers Falls Residents Vote To Keep Police Dept.

Residents in Wappingers Falls voted against dissolving the village's Police Department.  

According to the department’s PBA the vote was 486 no votes, opposing eliminating the Police Department, and 294 yes votes to abolish the Police Department.  The Village Board had proposed having the Dutchess County Sheriff’s office take over law enforcement duties.  Village Board members earlier had said they would abide by the vote of the people.
